adaptor

If you need an exact voltage replacement for the PX27 or V27PX producing exactly 5.6 volts, then consider the voltage reducing V27PX Adapter from The Small Battery Company.
Possibly the best solution to problem of the discontinued Mercury battery, the V27PX Adapter has the outer dimensions of the PX27 Mercury battery with a recess that takes four inexpensive and easily obtained Silver Oxide SR43 cells. Within the V27PX Adapter are micro electronics that drop the voltage from the 6.2 volts produced by the four silver oxide cells to the 5.6 volts that your device was designed for. No adjustment or modification to your equipment is required.

Make Your Own, 3 Possible Options:

This battery is easily constructed from:

  1. A stack of four LR43 button cells held with some electricians tape or card tube wrapped around them (6 volts).
They will be a little on the short side (16.8 mm rather than 20.5 mm) so may need packing or connection spring(s) stretching for a good fit.

  2. A stack of four LR44 button cells held with some electricians tape or card tube wrapped around them (6 volts).
They will be a little on the long side (21.6 mm rather than 20.5 mm) so may need connection spring(s) compressing for a good fit (may need to remove a turn or two from a coil spring).

  3. A stack of four Blue Hearing Aid Batteries with some electricians tape or card tube wrapped around them (5.6 volts for voltage sensitive devices).
They will be a little on the long side (21.6 mm rather than 20.5 mm) so may need connection spring(s) compressing for a good fit (may need to remove a turn or two from a coil spring)
ALSO ensure the battery compartment is not air tight as these batteries NEED air to work.
