BP-216 is a battery holder that takes 2 × AA batteries and has a voltage step up converter built in. NOTE:TX Power of the radio is reduced using the BP-216. There are some "AA" sized Li-ion batteries available that, at 3.7 volts each, supposedly give full output when fitted in the BP-216, though you need a special charger for these batteries. I have not tried this, it was reported on Mods.dk.
Best advice I can give is shop around. Some emporia offer 1400 - 1600 mAh for less than the branded 1300 mAh.
